Why do certain numbers strike fear into people ? The number 13 , 666 , or many
others too numerous to mention. How did these certain numbers get assigned a
negative association? Where did it all originate from? Is there any secret
that Numerology can reveal? These are some of the questions I had when I
researched the history and meaning of Numerology. The results I found are
both up lifting and overwhelming at the same time.
Pythagoras was the inventor of Numerology. He believed that everything was a
number which represented order in a chaotic universe. It is the idea that
these numbers are clues to the true structure of the universe , combined with
the belief that the very essence of every person or object is contained within
its name.
Pythagoras saw opposites everywhere. Among the pairs were good and evil , odd
and even , Male and Female as well as others. This is how he determined the system
of Numerology. Good and Male were represented by the odd numbers. Evil and Female
were represented by the even numbers. This is how he came up with the first list
of numbers and meanings. They are as follows :
1 - being active and positive 2 - passive and receptive
3 - lucky and spiritual 4 - unlucky and Earthly
5 - multi - faceted and adventurous 6 - plain and domestic
7 - retiring from the world 8 - involvement in the world
Using this key Pythagoras developed the system of Numerology . Each letter in
a name of person or object was also assigned a number. Here is the list that
Numerologists use in present day.
1 - represents the letters A , I , Q , J , AND Y .
2 - represents the letters B , K , AND R .
3 - represents the letters C , G , L , AND S .
4 - represents the letters D , M , AND T .
5 - represents the letters E , H , AND N .
6 - represents the letters U , V , W , AND X .
7 - represents the letters O , AND Z .
8 - represents the letters F , AND P .
These numbers were applied to names and reduced to the lowest single number . That
single number was also assigned a description of it's properties. Any number beyond
9 can be reduced to another single number by adding digits . For example take the
number 29. 29 is 2 plus 9 is 11 or 1 plus 1 is 2. 2 is the lowest number of 29 . Lets take
it one step farther using Pythagoras as an example.

If you take the number 4 and read the chart it represents Unlucky and Earthly .
Through the Middle Ages , Numerology was used to explain the Mysteries of the universe.
Numerology was also applied to understanding the Bible. So a new list was commissioned.
1 - GOD 2 - THE DEVIL
3 - THE TRINITY 4 - EARTH
5 - MAN ( SENSES AND SACRIFICE ) 6 - CREATION ( WORLD CREATED IN 6 DAYS )
7 - REST 8 - FULLNESS AND BALANCE
9 - PROCREATION / COSMIC SIGNIFICANCE 10 - COMPLETENESS
They then added new meanings. Personal number , Heart number , Birth number and your
Life Path number. All these answers could be reached by using your name and Birthday.
How is it possible ?
Personal numbers can be found by adding the numbers of your full name to reveal your
general personality type. The vowels in your name can disclose who you really are at
heart or your heart number . By considering nicknames , short forms , or any variants of
your name describes how you present yourself to others. They say that if you can
change your name , you can alter your personality.
Birth Numbers are found by adding together your birth date , Month , day and year.
This number will reveal the mold that you were last in at birth and the Destiny you
are meant to follow . If your Birth number doesn' t harmonize with your Personal
number you are likely to be prone to considerable inner conflict.
Life Path numbers can be found by adding your Personal , Heart , and Birth numbers
together . This final number is what you must achieve to be happy in this life
time. This is the most important number to understanding you and your goals and
place in the universe.
In the 20th Century the Numerology chart was once again used to reflect the New
World and it's people. So, once again a new list was made.

3 - CREATIVE MINDED / INNOVATIVE 4 - THE FOUNDATION / STRENGTH
5 - ADVENTUROUS / CHAOTIC 6 - HARMONY / THE LEADER
7 - KEEN OBSERVER / SPIRITUALITY 8 - POWERFUL / STRONG CONFIDENCE
9 - HUMANITARIAN / DEEP UNDERSATNDING
It was during the mid 20th Century that definitions were compiled to explain the
meanings of Life Path numbers . These descriptions are so accurate that I will also
give you some people you know that correspond to the numbers.
1 - Your number 1 at what you do . You are respected and people look up to you. You
love challenges and have a competitive streak. Some other famous number 1 's are :
Tom Hanks , Tom Cruise , Nicholas Cage , and Toby McGuire . Most of Hollywood's Big
names are 1 's because of the competitive streak.
2 - Number 2 's are peacemakers and Mediators . They are not looking for trouble,
and are usually employed as a Social Worker. If their friends are in trouble , they
want to make it good again . The downside is that if a number 2 feels like they are
being pushed against a wall , they explode in anger . After they calm down , 2 's
feel worse than the person who got them so upset . They feel bad . 2 's fall under
the saying , " I'm a Lover , not a fighter " .
3 - If you are a 3 , your are here to uplift and motivate others . You are a communicator
that needs to express yourself . You're a Natural counselor and are always asked to
give advice whether you want to or not . If your in trouble a 3 wants to help . 3 's
are good writers and performers. The number 3 is tied to sense of humor and Natural
Comedians . Some other famous 3 's are : Jim Carey , Bill Cosby , Robin Willams , and
Rosie O' Donell .
4 - Number 4 's are very unique people . They are people who seek knowledge , and always
have a strong need to know as much as they can . They are constantly reading books ,
trying to find answers to their plaguing questions . 4 's CANNOT HANDLE LIARS ! ! If
somebody lies to them they will confront the liar and not put up with it . If lies
happen in a number 4 's relationship behind their back , they are unforgiving . They
just have to let the person go . Oprah Winfrey , Donald Trump and Bill Gates are all
number 4 's .
5 - The phrase to best describe a 5 is " Never a Dull Moment " . They are people who love
Freedom , fun , and adventure . They have to watch out for "escaping" through drugs ,
alcohol , geography and work . 5 's have an abundance of restless energy and love to
throw parties or go to them . They are always the last one to leave , always have
lots to say , but may have one drink too many . You love to celebrate life and are
Major Givers . You love giving but hate receiving and wonder if there 's a hidden
meaning behind the gift you got . Number 5 's are Natural Detectives . They dig for
the truth . It a good thing for them to go and travel and look at the world . 5 's
shouldn't Marry early . They will make mistakes and won't stay in a "claustrophobic"
situation . It's better to wait.
6 - 6 is also known as the MAGNETIC NUMBER . We are drawn to people who are 6 's for
their charisma and willingness to learn to overcome anything . They need people to
respect them and are " King of the Castle " .They are responsible people and are very
good at damage control . 6 's are not used to smooth sailing . They are the first to let
you known when they have done something good or that they deserve something for
doing it . Rudy Guilliani and George Bush are examples of number 6 's .
7 - People who are 7 's are the Faith finders . Who am I ? Why am I here ? They are the
observers of Life and are usually great directors or writers . 7 's have a real unique
way of looking at things and usually present " out there " ways of thinking . They are
always fascinated with the Paranormal . If a spaceship landed , all the 7 's would get
up and say , " I knew it ! ! I Don't belong here ! ! I'm going ! ! "
8 - 8 's believe in the saying " He who dies with the most toys wins ! " . They are here to
master money and have to find a way to be financially stable . They have to learn to
take advice which is very hard for 8 's . They have to have relationships with money .
Their relationships are feast or famine financially . Either they have lots of money
and won't spend it or they blow it as fast as they get it . If a number 8 has money
issues they have to change their way of thinking to include the words " Donation
to Charity " . The people who curse money are miserable 8 's . Martha Stewart is also
a number 8 .
9 - The highest number in Numerolgy . You are a Natural Humanitarian and care about the
World and the people in it . Common issues with 9 's are having to overcome their
own "scars" from dealing with divorce , abandonment , or adoption before healing
others . The flipside is that 9 's feel incredibly responsible and are strong Family
people . They have to learn better boundaries so that people won't take advantage
of them . 9 's will never ask for or admit to needing help and must learn to do so .
So now we can take it even one step further . You can see if you and your partner are a
Natural Match . This is Heaven on Earth . They already understand you . You are both

1 , 5 , and 7 - Mind Numbers - Very cerebral and never stop thinking . These people have

and we are drawn to their magnetic personalities . They are always there to
give advice and are Natural Humanitarians . Healers with Deep Scars .
As you can see , Numerology is an overwhelming entity in itself . People have gone mad in
the study of numbers . They see the patterns and links between themselves and the world
and it becomes an obsession . How many bad omens have been tied to numbers . Unlucky 13
bad things come in 3 ' s , Y2K , Friday the 13th just to name a few . What I took from my
study was this , a number or name only has the power you give it .
